The Greater Dayton RTA periodically adjusts bus service in response to the needs of customers, communities, and businesses. A service change affecting several routes will begin Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023.
To improve service, the RTA will be expanding Routes 6, 9 and 12, along with the creation of the new Route 28. Due to the expansion of routes, Route 11 is being retired. In addition, running times are being adjusted for Routes 16, 18 and 22. For a complete list of all routes, time changes and maps, see below.
Overview map:
The following service adjustments will take place on December 31, 2023:
Route 6 will be expanded to cover the northern portion of the discontinued Route 11. West Schantz Avenue will no longer be served due to this discontinued service.
Route 9 will now service Salem Avenue to Shiloh Springs Road going into the Northwest Hub. This will also create better access to the Greyhound bus station.
Route 11 will be discontinued.
Route 12 will be expanded south to serve the Meijer on East Stroop Road. The Woodman Center Drive loop will be eliminated. However, the northbound service will continue along Delco Park Drive with a 45-minute frequency.
The run time has been adjusted by two to three minutes between 3-6 p.m. on the north and south end.
The southbound run time from Fuyao to Dixie Avenue has been adjusted from eight to six minutes and the northbound run time from Hoyle Place to Fuyao and Dixie Avenue has been adjusted from eight to six minutes.
The southbound trips on Gettysburg to the Westown Hub have been adjusted by 2 minutes.
Following the addition of the Northwest Connector last year, the RTA is pleased to announce the launch of Route 28. It will run from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. with a frequency of approximately 40 minutes. Route 28 will loop through parts of Kettering along Dorothy Lane to East Stroop Road, to Southern Boulevard and then back to Dorothy Lane. It will replace the southern portion of the retired Route 11. Route 28 will not travel downtown to Wright Stop Plaza. However, it will intersect with five other existing routes, which do travel downtown. Those include Routes 6, 12, 16, 17 and 19. To learn more about Route 28, visit www.iriderta.org/Route28.
