(DAYTON, OHIO)… The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is encouraging residents of the Miami Valley to leave their personal vehicles at home and commute via RTA for free on Monday, May 6, 2024, to celebrate National Air Quality Awareness Week, May 6-10, 2024, in partnership with the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC). The free rides on May 6 apply to both RTA’s fixed-route and paratransit services.
RTA is one of Ohio’s greenest fleets and operates diesel and electric trolley buses. Riding the bus is an environmentally friendly way to get to where you need to go. Public transportation moves more people in fewer vehicles, reducing congestion and pollutants entering the air.
Every RTA bus has the possibility of eliminating up to 40 cars on the road and the emissions that go with those vehicles. That means better air quality for all. In fact, the RTA’s electric trolleys have zero emissions making them even greener.
RTA is proud to partner with MVRPC for this clean air initiative. This year’s theme for National Air Quality Awareness week is “Knowing Your Air.” Visit www.MiamiValleyAir.org to learn more.
