(DAYTON, OHIO)… The RTA is rolling out two new hiring buses that will serve as rolling billboards to help reach potential job candidates across Montgomery County. Each bus features a QR code, that once scanned on a smartphone, takes the person to the RTA’s hiring website where they can apply for all available positions.
Currently, the RTA is looking to hire numerous positions. Along with hiring drivers, RTA is also seeking mechanics, customer service representatives and transit ambassadors. The starting wage for CDL drivers is $18 per hour and after 6 years of employment make $30 per hour. Non-CDL drivers start at $15.75 per hour. Mechanics start at $28.50 per hour and after 4 years of employment make $31.14 per hour. Customer service representatives start at $15.25 per hour and transit ambassadors start at $16 per hour.
In addition to starting pay, RTA offers outstanding benefits, including: a 14% contribution to your state pension account; up to $26,000 a year toward family medical insurance; dental insurance; paid time off; access to on-site fitness centers; and a great team atmosphere where you are respected and valued for your contributions.
Both buses will be used at the RTA’s Interactive Hiring Event on March 16. The RTA will conduct interviews from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the transit center located at 2075 Shiloh Springs Road in Trotwood. After successfully completing an interview, candidates will be offered the chance to get behind the wheel of the agency’s big buses and/or small non-CDL buses and get a feel for what it is like to drive a bus. RTA trainers will assist candidates with the test drive to ensure the ride goes smoothly.
For those not able to attend the hiring event, you can apply for open positions on RTA’s career website, www.iriderta.org/careers.
