(DAYTON, OHIO)… Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) employees stepped up to “Stuff the Bus” full of school supplies for the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton.
Donations were collected over three weeks starting Aug. 1 and in total the RTA and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1385 donated more than 650 items including backpacks, notebooks, binders, cleaning supplies, markers, pencils and snacks. RTA management also presented the club with a check for $500.
“We are so grateful for the support of the RTA and ATU,” said Emma Kane, resource development manager for the Boys & Girls Club. “Because of community partners and organizations like (RTA), our club members and Dayton youth will be prepared for a successful year of learning and growth.”
All the supplies donated will be given to youth at the club’s Back-to-School Community Block Party on August 31.
For more than 90 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton has specialized in youth development. Youth & teens have opportunities, resources and access to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) learning experiences. The club also provides members with mental and behavioral health support, healthy meals and snacks, and critical academic intervention. Each component is crucial to developing lifelong skills, productive community members and resilient spirits.
